Donations for Drake and his family

Also PLEASE keep those prayers coming!  He and his family desperately need them!  His father and sister had to go home so it is just Mom, Grandma, and Drake left in Memphis.  He is currently at Children's Hospital there and will be doing follow up treatment at St. Jude's Hospital.

What have I been up to?

Wow!  It has been awhile since I have posted to my blog and I apologize for that!  The last couple of months have been busy both personally and professionally!  I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and that your New Year has started off on the right foot!

First I would like to request prayers for my nephew, Drake, and his family for he recently had a major surgery.  At the age of 13 he has already been through so much!  In 2002 he was diagnosed with Medulloblastoma which is a brain tumor.  He spent a great deal of time at St. Jude's Hospital where they were able to help him tremendously.  Unfortunately Drake has had to return to their care due to another cancer forming this time in his lower jaw.  On Monday, January 4th, 2010 Drake had his lower jaw removed and they replaced it with a bone from his leg.  Thank God he has had such wonderful people both at St. Jude's and at the Children's Hospital in Memphis, TN. 

This has taken its toll on him and his family for this past year they finally felt like their lives were getting back to normal.  If you are interested in keeping tabs on their progress please visit Drake's website at www.caringbridge.org/tx/drakedahn.  They have a guestbook that you can sign and let them know you are thinking of them.  If you are interested in donating please shoot me an email and I will get you information on the best way to help them out.

Happy Halloween!

October Blizzard 2009

This has been a strange year for weather here in Colorado!  I don't know what to think of it!  We just had our first blizzard for the season and to think it is only October!  Here are some photographs of what it looks like around our house. 

 

 

I guess we can only wait and see what is to come in the winter months!

Family Portriat Month!

October is officially Family Portrait month but at Leider Photography we will extend it though November this year!  What is so important about Family Portrait month?  We donate a portion of each sitting to Operation Smile.  This is a wonderful cause though one of the organizations we belong to, Professional Photographers Association (PPA).

Operation Smile treats children around the world who suffer from cleft lips, cleft palates, and other facial deformities.

Alumi Show at the Art Institute of Colorado

Please join us at the Art Institute of Colorado's opening night for the Alumni show.  It will be held Thursday October 8th at 5:00pm.  I plan on being there from 5-6.  Hope to see you there!

 

Heather gets Training from the Best!

Recently I attended training in Atlanta, GA with 2 of the world's top wedding photographers!  It was an honor and a privilege to spend time with Denis Reggie and Joe Buissink. 

Over the course of 3 days myself, my husband's cousin and fellow photographer, Cheri Pica and 9 other aspiring photographers studied and practiced their famed techniques.  What made it all the more personal was the workshop was held at Denis Reggie's own house!  In addition to our class time we had both lunch and dinner with the two of them allowing us to get to know them on a more personal level. 

I have attended several workshops and even received a degree in photography but I have never come back with the amount of excitement and energy as I have from this workshop!  I didn't think my passion for photography could grow to this level and yet it continues it gain momentum!

Thank you Denis and Joe!  I appreciate all the time you spent with us!

Looking at the above image you would never know it was very dark church with no lights on!  This is a technique I have already started using!

On our final day we put what we had learned to the test.  Joe started us off demonstrating how he shoots and we followed shortly there after.  Liz was a wonderful model!

Alex Reiter

Another great time!  I can't believe how much fun senior pictures have been this year!  Alex and his mom piled into my car and off we went!  He was such a good sport and a pleasure to work with!  Please enjoy these shots from that shoot!

Kevin Ferguson Senior Photo Shoot

Kevin all I can say is I had a blast!  He was so much fun to work with and I know I had a great time. 

We did some inside pictures but I feel he really came alive when we moved outside!

This was a painted wall that is over near the Denver West Office complex.  Thank you so much to Megan Letts' mom who found it for us!  Kevin had a great time at it!

It gave him the opportunity to have more fun!

Finally my closing shot is a masterpiece that Kevin worked very hard at making sure everything was lined up correctly for the shot!  Unfortunately I don't think it will make the yearbook!
