This has been a strange year for weather here in Colorado! I don't know what to think of it! We just had our first blizzard for the season and to think it is only October! Here are some photographs of what it looks like around our house.
I guess we can only wait and see what is to come in the winter months!

October is officially Family Portrait month but at Leider Photography we will extend it though November this year! What is so important about Family Portrait month? We donate a portion of each sitting to Operation Smile. This is a wonderful cause though one of the organizations we belong to, Professional Photographers Association (PPA).
Operation Smile treats children around the world who suffer from cleft lips, cleft palates, and other facial deformities.

Recently I attended training in Atlanta, GA with 2 of the world's top wedding photographers! It was an honor and a privilege to spend time with Denis Reggie and Joe Buissink.
Over the course of 3 days myself, my husband's cousin and fellow photographer, Cheri Pica and 9 other aspiring photographers studied and practiced their famed techniques. What made it all the more personal was the workshop was held at Denis Reggie's own house! In addition to our class time we had both lunch and dinner with the two of them allowing us to get to know them on a more personal level.
I have attended several workshops and even received a degree in photography but I have never come back with the amount of excitement and energy as I have from this workshop! I didn't think my passion for photography could grow to this level and yet it continues it gain momentum!
Thank you Denis and Joe! I appreciate all the time you spent with us!
Denis explaining some lighting techniques to us and Joe being a very patient model!
Looking at the above image you would never know it was very dark church with no lights on! This is a technique I have already started using!
On our final day we put what we had learned to the test. Joe started us off demonstrating how he shoots and we followed shortly there after. Liz was a wonderful model!

Kevin all I can say is I had a blast! He was so much fun to work with and I know I had a great time.
We did some inside pictures but I feel he really came alive when we moved outside!
This was a painted wall that is over near the Denver West Office complex. Thank you so much to Megan Letts' mom who found it for us! Kevin had a great time at it!
It gave him the opportunity to have more fun!
Finally my closing shot is a masterpiece that Kevin worked very hard at making sure everything was lined up correctly for the shot! Unfortunately I don't think it will make the yearbook!

Today I had the honor of photographing at the LPD Broken Club Classic Golf
Tournament. This tournament benefits the Lakewood Police Employee Assistance Foundation which provides relief and support for the employees and their families who are suffering from the financial impacts of serious illness, death, or catastrophe. It is a wonderful fund which allows us to support each other in times of need.
I started my morning off early (getting up around 5:45). For those of you who know me this is highly unusual! Commander Jeff Streeter had arranged for me to be taking group shoots on the 2nd tee. It offered a beautiful backdrop with both the golf course and the mountains! I joked that it was my studio (I would never leave if it was!)
After the golfers finished we were treated to a delicious BBQ lunch, awards, and door prizes. They had many wonderful sponsors who created quite a selection to win from!
(and this was just one of the tables!)
Lakewood Police Chief Paletta introducing some of our honored guests and thanking the organizers.
Lakewood Police Division Chief McCasky picking the next lucky winner.
Lakewood Police Commander Streeter and Commander Boatwright with Jefferson County Sheriff Mink.
Overall it was a great experience and I hope to be back for it next year! Thank you to all that attended and sponsored this great event!

When we started this shoot it was up in the air as to whether or not the outdoor shots were going to take place! We started off at Belmar Park only to have it start raining on us, so we quickly returned to the house. There we had a blast! It was fun to watch Taylor come alive when she started dancing to the music! She definitely has talent!
Taylor in the beginning was a little shy in front of the camera but once she realized this was her time to have fun she really opened up!
We also took pictures of Taylor's sister Michelle and her cousin who was in town for the week. These three really know how to have fun together!
Once the weather let up we headed back out to Belmar Park to try again! It was somewhat overcast and a little chilly but these girls did great!
Nice Michelle! :-)
Towards the end Taylor stood up on the bench and looked out over the water. As she was doing this a gentle breeze started and we captured this image. It was such a natural pose for her! Thank you to all three of you and Mom, I had a great time!

It is that time again for senior pictures! Our first session this season was with Megan. We had to break it up into two parts since we seem to have entered a rainy season here in Colorado! Megan and her Mom were good sports about it and we will be heading back out to do the outside session.
This year at Leider Photography we are trying something different. We are offering studio style shots along with our usual location photographs. So far it has been a lot fun and a great experience. Make sure to get your appointments soon for the school deadlines are rapidly approaching!
I hope you enjoy Megan's pictures and in the next day or so I will post Taylor Stockton's photographs as well!
